Blackpool Carers' Illumination
/Client History
Beaverbrook’s have been our clients for almost a decade, we began working with them in 2008 providing planned and remedial maintenance services to their electrical and life safety systems to circa 70 Stores and properties throughout the UK. In 2013, Beaverbrooks set up the Beaverbrooks Charitable Trust with the main objective to aid charities that support the education, welfare, health, mentoring and self-development of Communities. As a company who are aware of our responsibility with regard to our environment and our community, JCW have always been enthusiastic contributors to charity and activities with charitable events. So when Beaverbrooks asked for our support that actually involved our installation expertise, of course we said yes.
Beaverbrooks House’s Restoration
Beaverbrook House is an iconic building in Blackpool, it was generously handed over to the expanding Blackpool Carer’s Centre to utilise as their HQ in 2015. The Blackpool Carer’s Centre provide an extensive range of age specific services and support for carers from the age of 5 to 105 and their families. The house had been undergoing extreme restoration since November 2016 to make good the damages done by metal thieves. People began to move in, however, there were no lights in the outside areas which posed a risk to the carers and the cared for. As Beaverbrooks’ incumbent Electrical project provider, JCW have an in depth knowledge of site etiquette and equipment suitability, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to make this area safe.
Materials from Electric Centre
Once we were appointed by Beaverbrooks as the contractor for this project, we provided the design and installation of 4 x 70W Floodlights to introduce light to the car park and 4 LED PIR Halogens for the garden. These were generously discounted and supplied by our long term supplier Electric Centre who were very happy to help us support this project.
Our Beaverbrook’s Account Management Team
The project was managed and administered by our Beaverbrook’s Account Management Team based in our Leicester office. This involved the organisation of Risk Assessment and Method Statements. Most works were at height, involving electrical wiring, safety testing and we were conscious and understanding that this work would be conducted whilst in the presence of carers and those in need. The installation team were from our North West based engineers who were briefed by the Account Manager, Paul Stobart prior to commencement of works at the location. Our engineers often visit local schools and GPs and are trained and experienced in keeping disruption to sensitive environments to a minimum.
Satisfied Customer
The new systems now provide illumination to the iconic Blackpool heritage site as well as a safer more visible environment for the Carers and the cared-for to move around in the outside areas. The lighting utilised provide high energy efficiency and will also contribute towards achieving Beaverbrooks’s sustainability targets.
Testimonial from Faye Atherton, Head of Services for Blackpool Carers Centre:
"We are delighted that JCW have kindly chose to donate outdoor lighting, including the installation, to us here at Blackpool Carers Centre. Their generous donation has enabled us to open up the garden to our carers, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful surroundings into the evenings. Our Young Carers have been especially excited to be able to make the most of the outdoor play facilities when they attend their vital respite sessions. These sessions allow children from the age of 5 to experience play, activities and social time away from their caring responsibilities. The installation of the lighting has made such a difference to our Centre, ensuring that our outdoor space is as inviting as our wonderful building. Thank you"
