The Benefits of Apprenticeships

JCW currently have two Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprentices and three Electrical Apprentices. We caught up with one of our newer recruits Logan, to learn more about what it is like to be our apprentice.

Being a JCW Apprentice - Meet Logan

Becoming an engineer, especially an Electrician, is something that Logan has always wanted to do. Shortly after school and A levels, where he studied Business, IT and PE, whilst juggling a part time job working at a local golf course, Logan started looking at getting into the trade, and soon after started with JCW.

Q: Tell us about your day?

A normal day usually starts at 6-7am. I drive my van to the first site of the day to meet up with one of the electrical engineers. This could be anywhere in the Midlands. We usually get about 3-5 jobs done per day sometimes more, sometimes less. And I'm usually home by 5 o clock, but it does vary from day to day.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being with JCW and your team?

I enjoy the work that we do, and I enjoy being with all the engineers, they're all great guys.

Q: Would share your experience on something you have overcome since your time with us?

The biggest thing I've had to overcome has been driving longer distances. When I started, I had only been driving for about 8 months and never driven on a motorway. I have built up my confidence with driving, working with JCW.

Q: Biggest lesson so far? Any tips you would give your past self when you first started?

One tip I would give to my past self is to pay attention to everything the electricians do because they have efficient ways of getting jobs done and you learn a lot from them.

Q: What are you working towards/training for?

I see myself becoming a qualified electrician with JCW and staying here for the foreseeable future.

Q: Finally, how do you relax after a day?

After a day at work I like to relax by going to the gym, and on the weekends I like to play golf with my dad and brother.
