JCW in Ipswich runs the Whole hog
/Its been a summer of outdoor charity challenges again for our staff. Now, with Autumn looming we decided to line just one more up for October, this time we are going the Whole Hog! With 30 plus obstacles, a 5 mile muddy course and a whole JCW team taking up the challenge, this is going to be some occasion.
Hollie has been an administrator with JCW in Ipswich since Feb 2018, and everyone in the office can vouch for her positive and cheerful energy. Outside of work her energy continues, and this year she wanted the JCW team to get involved in a charity challenge. The idea behind which fund raiser to choose from was born from the same place as all JCWs’ good ideas – an open discussion at the office.
“We wanted to do something fun, and if we could raise money for a good cause at the same time then great! So why not do it for charity as well as for team work”.
The Whole Hog run was chosen for many reasons; firstly, it would be the teams first ever muddy obstacle course run, and October was the right time for everyone. The event it self is an annual Suffolk occasion and this year the proceeds goes to the EACH charity. This means by entering, we are all automatically supporting the charity. However this was not enough, we wanted to raise more….
For additional motivation, the team decided to put forward their preferred charities. So when two charities came out on top in the office vote, we just decided to go with both of them:
Dog’s Trust was chosen because we have a lot of dog owners in the office who adore their furry chums. As they are such animal lovers they really wanted to help raise money to help make a difference.
The British Heart foundation was chosen because a few members of the team have had personal experiences where this charity has benefited them. It would mean a lot to them to raise as many pennies as possible to support the work this charity does for many.
Who’s in the team:
What “training” have you done in preparation for the mud run?
“We are all super excited about our first charity mud run! Even though we have not done any team training yet, we are positive that our individual runs will pay off when we are together. Some of us have taken some ‘terrible selfies’ that we hope will get your attention!”
The team is almost hitting their goal of £200 for the British Heart Foundation, but they still have a way to go for the Dogs Trust. They would like to exceed these targets of course, but cannot do it without your help!
About the charities we are supporting:
EACH offer care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions and support families across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. EACH offer families flexibility and control over where they receive their care and support. To take part yourself, and join us on the day tickets can purchased here.
Dogs Trust’s mission is to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
The British Heart Foundation’s vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. Money raised will aid research cures and treatments, to make heartbreak a thing of the past.
