Customer Case Study: Vodafone
In the second of our Customer Case Study Blogs we look at our relationship with Vodafone.
Recent History
Vodafone are still a relatively new client, we begun working with them in 2014 providing planned and reactive, mechanical and electrical maintenance services to circa 150 stores throughout the UK. We have years of experience having worked with the likes of Phones 4 U and Carphone Warehouse, so we proved very quickly our understanding of the industry and that we could deliver an excellent, bespoke service country wide.
High Priority Project
Vodafone have recently undertaken a High Priority Air Conditioning Replacement Project to update equipment that was failing or had become obsolete. As their incumbent HVAC maintenance provider, who has an in depth knowledge of the working methodology and equipment in stores, JCW were invited to tender for this work. We have extensive experience with regard to replacing a large number of split units in various locations within a given timescale and completed a comprehensive R22 Replacement Project for both Next and more recently Goldsmiths.
We were delighted to be appointed by Vodafone as the main contractor for this project and provided the design, supply and replacement of 21 air conditioning units in 9 different locations across the UK. The work commenced in May of this year and was completed on schedule within three months.
Our Small Works Team
The project was managed and administered by our Small Works’ team based in the Leicester office. This involved organisation of Risk Assessment and Method Statements. Most works were at height, involved refrigeration gas handling and required minor brazing. The team were briefed by the Project Manager as well as our HSQE Manager prior to commencement of works at each location. To keep business disruption to minimum, some indoor works within customer facing areas were carried out during non-trading hours. The replacement phases at each store lasted 2-4 working days depending on the difficulty, location of units and requirement of fabric work finishes.
Another Satisfied Customer
The new systems now provide a comfortable shop environment for the customer facing areas, are highly energy efficient and make their contribution towards achieving Vodafone’s sustainability targets.
Speaking to Mick Stevenson who is our National Installation Manager, he noted:
"The JCW Installation's team have a wealth of experience with planning and completing air conditioning replacement projects, particularly within the retail environment. We understand the restrictions with regard to working on a shop floor and in shopping centres. Our team of experienced installation engineers worked nights to ensure there was as little disruption as possible. We worked closely with the management team and Vodafone staff to ensure a smooth installation and handover and provided a comprehensive Operation & Maintenance manual."
Vodafones' Retail Facilities Manager, Graham McCarron also added:
"JCW have always been very helpful and conducted their business in a professional manner. We have just carried out an independent compliance audit which has proved that the company (JCW) is worth the investment and ideal to look after our Retail portfolio."
